Ward Ball raises nearly 30,000 for Hospice

Core Clinics held a Ward Ball, in memory of Simon Ward, which raised nearly £30,000 for Primrose Hospice.

The Ward Ball, held on 25th November 2016 at St John’s Hotel, Solihull, was organised by Simons’ employers at the time of his unfortunate passing – Core Clinics, a company based in Solihull co-owned by Stefan and Angela Vossen. A ball committee was put together, with Julia Robinson and Lin Davies (employees at Core Clincs) as joint Chairwomen.

The money raised was donated to Primrose Hospice, who continues to support the Ward family through their family services.

The ball was sponsored by Rolls Royce and the money was raised through ‘Heads and Tails’, ‘Auction Lots’ and a raffle, with fantastic prizes such as a week at a villa in Majorca, a 3 day charter on a super yacht in Majorca, Rolls Royce Factory Trip, jewellery vouchers and a load more. There was even a team of Simons’ colleagues who took part in the 3 peaks challenge back on 1st August.

All together they raised a fantastic sum of £29,130.48

Kerrie Ward, Simon’s wife, said: “The hospice has continued to support the children since Simon lost his fight on 5th April 2016. They regularly go to the children’s group sessions, have individual sessions on request and have attended a weekend camp for bereaved children. This donation will go a long way to ensuring that this much needed service can continue to help the many other children affected in the same way that Simon’s children are, both now and in the future.

“Being able to support the hospice in Simon’s memory has made his passing a little easier to bear”.

Kate Kelly, Corporate Fundraiser at Primrose Hospice, said: “When I initially met with Angela (co-owner of Core Clinics) and the team at Core Clinics, they pledged to raise £10,000 towards supporting Jenni’s role (our Macmillan Children's and Young People's Practitioner), as Simon has 3 children who have benefited massively from using our Children’s services.

“To say they have tripled their initial pledge has shown there dedication for our cause”.
