Many people affected by cancer prefer to be
cared for in the familiar surroundings of their
own home.
Primrose at Home
Primrose at Home is a team of carers who can
provide basic nursing care and social support
for patients and their families in their own
homes at times of particular need.
Referrals are mostly through the District Nurses
and care is tailored according to an individual's
needs. The team can help during the day or at
night and take some of the strain of caring
away from a patient's family by allowing them
to have break.
Family Support Team
Primrose offers emotional help and support
through the Family Support Team.
A Family Support Team Co-ordinator, heads up
a team of 8 trained volunteers, with supervision
from Primrose's qualified counsellor. Volunteers
visit people in their own homes or take appointments
at the Day Hospice if the person prefers and
the service is totally confidential.
The Family Support Team offers an empathetic
ear to support people on their journey through
the different stages of cancer.
Bereavement Support
For those needing support at the loss of a
loved one, Primrose's confidential Bereavement
Support service is here to help. Individuals
are usually referred by a GP or Macmillan Nurse,
or they can make an appointment themselves by
calling 01527 875444. Sessions usually last
an hour and are usually held once a week, on
an ongoing basis as long as is needed and as
mutually agreed.
