Briefing Report From The Trustees Board Meeting January 24th 2011
Trustees Board Meeting
24th January 2011
The following agenda items were discussed by the Trustees:
- The Trustees were sorry to learn of the death of Mavis Douglas who had worked at HMP Hewell for the last 6 years. She will be sadly missed.
- It was pleasing to note that the Day Hospice was busier than ever with a continuing flow of referrals.
- RACE had now launched and activity is growing. It was clear that the service is already achieving its objective of preventing unnecessary hospital admissions.
- There was a discussion around what is currently known around the NHS reorganisation and the proposed move towards GP consortia. The picture is still evolving but it is felt there should be greater clarity by the end of March.
- After the initial 6 months pilot there was sufficient confidence with what had been achieved in offering an education service for the Trustees to agree to continue at least for a further 12 months.
- The cold weather prior to Christmas has meant that the new building is currently some 17 days behind schedule. We have received confirmation from a Masonic Charity that we have been awarded a donation of £41k for equipment. They felt unable to support a request for funding to fit out the first floor so other avenues to secure the funds are being explored.
- We have noted with gratitude the gift by the Sandwell Haematology Care Group of a chalet at Broadway which can be made available to patients and/or their carers.
- The next big fundraising event is the Midnight Walk on Saturday 19th March. Every effort with be made to promote the event to maximise the number of participants.
